和往年一样, campus housing during winter break will be available to all students in campus housing for fall 2023 who also have a housing contract for the spring 2023 semester. Students stay in their existing fall semester housing assignment. Students choosing to remain on campus for part or all of 冬天呆 (12/23/23-1/13/24) must register. The registration period closed on December 8th, but we have temporarily reopened the application. 请填写 申请注册. If your plans change and you need to cancel, please email winterstayhousing@reslife.罗彻斯特.edu.  Please include your name, room assignment, and student ID.

The 冬天呆 fee is $300 to support the operation and maintenance of the residence halls. This fee will be applied to student accounts. 

I am only staying for a few days, what are my options?

There is no reduced fee for partial stay. 注册费为300美元. If you are looking to stay or return early it may be cheaper to utilize 校外 options.

  • RocBnB和Hostel offers dorm-style accommodations, private rooms, and entire apartments
  • AirBnb often has bedroom rental options for $25-$80/night, with discounts for longer stays
    • Tip: search the AirBnB listings using the filter options to limit search results by price range
  • Staybridge套房酒店  is a short walk from campus - inquire to see if there is a UR/student discount
  • RIT酒店和会议中心 is an RIT affiliate hotel - inquire to see if there is a UR/student discount
  • A cost-free option is to ask a friend at UR who lives 校外 if they’d let you stay with them for some or all of the duration you need housing in Rochester for.

What if I am registering for 冬天呆 and I have a financial need?

Financial support is available for students with demonstrated financial need (those currently receiving federal and/or institutional need-based assistance using the 2023-24 financial aid application) and will be applied on a sliding scale. Aid will be provided based on the student’s level of need, ranging from 0%-100% coverage of the $300 fee. Please contact your financial aid counselor if you have questions about your level of aid. Students with financial hardship may also request support through the 基本需求中心.

冬季住宿不需要饮食计划, 然而, Dining 服务 will have several eating venues on-campus available, 缩短作业时间. A schedule of hours and services are available on 餐厅的网站. Fall meal plans end after service on 12/23/23. Declining from fall meal plans will continue to be active during the 冬天呆 period. Additional declining can be added through 餐厅的网站. Students will be responsible for food expenses. 春餐计划从1/13/24开始. As always, if you are facing food insecurity, you may request support through the 基本需求中心 并利用 食品分发处.

谁有资格获得冬季住宿?

冬天呆 housing is limited to undergraduate students currently living in housing who are returning in the spring. Students leaving for education abroad programs for spring term, 正在休假, 2023年12月毕业, 通勤的学生, and new students arriving early for the spring 2024 term are 不 有资格申请冬季住宿. Undergraduates are prohibited from staying in graduate housing areas over winter break.

Can I visit my friends and can my friends visit me?

是的, students who are registered for 冬天呆 住房 will be able to visit each other in other residence halls. Your 冬天呆 card access will allow you to swipe in to visit your friends. 然而, Only 冬天呆 students are allowed in the residence halls, so friends and fellow students who are 不 registered for 冬天呆 will 不 be able to visit you on campus.
